MISSION
The Annex is a modern concept on collective artist space. Co-founded and operated by local artists that came together to build a community for like-minded creatives. A safe zone for individuals to sell their original and authentic creations. Encouraging artists to develop their craft and business mind. Without compromise we empower each other and grow together! A space for the community to shop authentically and support local artists.
CREW
The Annex is co-founded by Frank Marchany (dj and creator of The Famous New London), Denny Rivera (multimedia artist and creator of Klashwon), Cristin Rivera (designer and creator of C*kin and The Violet Sphinx), Krista Stanowicz (multimedia artist and creator of Wormo). They hold it down and work together to maintain the daily operations. With their hard work and dedication, the Annex continues to grow as an inclusive space in the community.
LOCATIONS
Being that we came together post pandemic and with a pop mentality we had to relocate the Annex a few times. Starting off on Bank street in New London at 60 Bank, then 24 Bank, then Westbrook Outlets, then landing back at 140 State Street New London, which is where we are currently and hope to stay!
Located in the cultural district at 140 State Street,
Selling art, apparel, accessories and much more made by over 20 local artisans.
We are open Thursday, Friday and Saturday 12-7pm, Sunday 12-5pm

After a bit of a creative hiatus and bouts of deep depression I found myself in the comfort of the thought that I can only describe as floating alone in space only there to observe the endless time and vastness out there. I started tying these thoughts and memories to songs as well with music being one of my biggest emotional crutches. As each piece was finished it helped me crawl out of that darkness and back into a scary world where I was now better at keeping my head high. Each piece felt like a small win.
This show was drawn across a period of time through the darkest depths and into the happiest highs and everything along the way. This is an open ended love letter to those who impacted my life at the time. I chose songs about love, loss, happiness, sadness, etc. to express what was happening on the inside that no one else could see. I invite you to find your own moments and feelings all across the spectrum with the songs that connect to you. Find that lyric, that song, that feeling of floating alone in space and embrace it.
Don’t be afraid of being alone.
Love,
sodapop clientele
Jessica is a fine artist living and working in the Boston area. She creates mixed media figurative works on paper to help her process emotions relating to introspection, the conflict of ego and the presence of destructive and reconstructive behavioral patterns. She studied art in San Francisco at The Academy of Art University and graduated with a BFA in Painting and Drawing
in 2011. After graduating from art school, she moved back to the Boston area, where she was born and raised. Jessica regularly exhibits her work and has shown in New York City and internationally. Fashion also plays a role in Jessica’s work as she spent her first semester at college as a fashion designer major and she continues to regularly look at Vogue and other fashion magazines for inspiration. Her work has been featured in a San Francisco magazine as she was the fashion illustrator for a local designer. She also has been the subject for a short documentary film that focused on both her art and amateur boxing career. Jessica loves to talk about art, the dichotomy of human emotion and experiences, self awareness and how it all ties
together
Born in Trinidad and Tobago, Kern Bruce is a mixed media and digital artist. His work revolves around people of the African diaspora, colonialism and modern day racism within a political and historical context. Kern challenges the norms of racial identity and the dominant representation of marginalized groups and takes a critical view of socio-political and cultural issues. Kern began drawing and painting at age three and later attended the Newark Community School of the Arts and Newark Arts High in Newark, New Jersey. He uses drawing and painting as a means to channel and foster his creativity while delivering messages of hope and love. His drawings and paintings consist of literal and abstract interpretations of both the challenges and the grace of being black in America.
Kern’s works are included in private collections throughout the country. Most recently Kern has shown work at Art in the Atrium, The Puffin Foundation, and Gallery Aferro. He is a 2015 / 2016 muralist for Newark Mayor Ras Baracka Model Neighborhood 2015 initiative. His work has been featured in television, film and sports. Most notably Godfather of Harlem starring Forest Whitaker, Hightown starring Monica Raymund, The New Jersey Devils NHL 100 and Essence Magazine: Before The Hashtag.
